You can DIY balloon garlands for under $40 but there is a risk of it not looking good and it takes time.
Depending on the environment and the number of guests, Balloon Garlands should be made well in advance of the event date. Hypley prefers you to do it before 24 to 48 hours of the wedding.
11″ Latex balloons filled with helium can last up to 12-20 hours, and when treated with High-Float can last up to 2-3 days. Foil balloons on the other hand, can last up to 5-7 days. Air-filled ones can last for more than 2 weeks.

This depends to some extent on the thickness and type of material the balloon is made from. Latex balloons generally last between 12-20 hours filled with helium, and about 2-3 days when treated with Hi-Float. Foil balloons last approx. 5-7 days. Air-filled balloons generally last for a couple of weeks, but will not float. Generally, filled with air, it lasts a week, filled with helium it lasts five days.
To hang balloons for the Balloon Garland, do the following steps:-
- Cut a strip of the tape that is of the same length you want the finished garland to be.
- Starting at one end, attach the tied openings of the balloons through the small holes in the tape, alternating colors and sizes of balloons.
- When the garland is done, it’s time to hang it and add all the embellishments.

- Balloon Inflater – No more blowing in air with your mouth. Balloon Inflator is here to do the hard job for you.
- Balloon Tape – You can hang your balloons in any fashion you like with balloon tapes having pre-cut holes in it.
- Command Hooks – To make sure that the garland doesn’t come off easily from the walls, use command hooks to tie things up!
- Latex Balloons – Well there’s no limitation to the balloons you can arrange for. Try to mix up the colors and make it look distinct!
These are the steps you have to follow to attach your balloon garland backdrop to the wall:
- Stick your strong and sturdy command hooks to the top corner of the walls.
- Take your balloon base and tie it as close as possible to the command hook.
- Make sure you have put on a double knot and then attach a balloon garland tape.
- Figure out how you want to hang the garland and put on the string to the hangar.
- In the end, string up your other end of the balloon base and stick it to the wall with a balloon garland strip.
Most of the time you will need your balloon garland to hang from something to keep it up. To hang your balloon garland you will need to tie a long piece of string to each end. Look around the space to see where the balloon garland can fit and is able to hang. You will need a friend to hang the garland against a wall or other area and make a small pencil mark at each end.
Then you need to attach a hook to the wall at each marking and use the strings to tie the garland to your hooks. Once it is hung securely you can fill in the spaces with flowers or other decor that maches your event theme.
– You can use light colored balloons because it absorbs heat less than the dark colored ones.
– Use larger balloons but don’t inflate them 100%, leave excess space so it can absorb heat due to warm weather
– Wrap frames and poles where the balloon garland is attached to avoid getting it too hot.
– You can use Qualatex balloons than Latex.

A balloon garland lasts at least a week, so no need to worry about making it the day of your event; it can easily be prepared days ahead of time. A Balloon Arch is a freestanding structure that consists of helium-filled balloons which support the arch and give it its shape.
