My duty, I believe, extends beyond what we are expected to perform under the Code of Practice for Marriage Celebrants. Weddings aren’t only about checking boxes and doing tasks. There are feelings at stake, as well as personal preferences in terms of style and character. Emotional intelligence, an open mind, and a big heart are often required while dealing with family dynamics and relationship sensitivities. Weddings, in my experience, do not usually go according to plan! As a celebrant, being able to think on your feet and having a high caring factor are key assets.
I place a high priority on the relationships that form between my couples after their wedding. Many of my previous couples remain in contact with me, and many have become close friends.
